Integrated Project Delivery

Integrated project delivery (IPD), is a collaborative alliance of people, systems, business structures, and best practices which develops a process to harness the talents and insights of all participants. This delivery method optimizes project results, increases value to the Owner, reduces waste, and maximizes efficiency through all phases of design, fabrication, and construction.

There are eight main sequential phases to the Integrated Project Delivery method:

  1. Conceptualization Phase
  2. Criteria Design Phase
  3. Detailed Design Phase
  4. Implementation Documents Phase
  5. Agency Review Phase20110923 MASTER Generator
  6. Buyout Phase
  7. Construction Phase
  8. Closeout Phase

Parsons’ approach strives to coherently address each level of the Integrated Project Delivery system:

  1. Collaborate throughout design, planning, and execution
  2. Increase coordination and relationships among all project participants
  3. Projects are networks of commitments
  4. Optimize the project, not the pieces
  5. Tightly couple action with learning
