Dow Jones Component Company

Dow Jones Component Company wanted to upgrade their 30-year old electrical equipment. The challenge was to keep the existing generators and power distribution units (PDUs) and replace everything else in-between while keeping the critical load running. There was the additional restraint of having to work within the existing footprint of the building.

Working with the general contractor and design engineer, the team generated a dozen different designs and cutover sequences that could achieve this goal. Each option had pros, cons, and a budget associated with it. Through this process, the customer was able to fully analyze their risk, as well as cost.

Ultimately, Tri-redundant electrical system that could be phased in one system at a time was deemed to be the best solution for the customer.
