Sanford Fargo Medical Center

At nearly one million sq. ft., this 11-story hospital and adjacent central energy plant is situated on a 109-acre greenfield site in the heart of the growing Fargo/West Fargo area, is considered in the top ten largest hospital projects in the nation, and the largest non-industrial project in North Dakota.

The medical center provides services for children’s/pediatrics intensive care (PICU), 28 trauma/operating rooms, orthopedics/neurosurgery, heart surgery/interventional cardiology, a combination of 384 patient rooms once completely built out, and the regions first level-one trauma center.

The heart of the electrical systems are housed within the central energy plant (CEP) and consist of (3) 2.5MW 12.47kV emergency generators and double-ended 12.47kV medium voltage substations for distribution throughout the medical center. Additional services provided and managed were nurse call, fire alarm, structured cabling, MATV, and synchronized and time-lapse clock systems.
